I landed in Minneapolis to find Caribou Coffee hot spots everywhere. Rather than rushing off to a nearby Starbucks as most of you know is a "must do" for me when traveling. I thought I would be flexible and try something local. The first Caribou Coffee shop opened in Edina, Minnesota in 1992. I didn't want to be my typical high maintenance self since this was my second latte of the day (I had my morning latte at Starbucks in the airport).
As I walked in with my son Mike, I found a vibrant atmosphere inside Caribou Coffee noticing several jubilant customers. I'm feeling even more confident now that I will get a great latte. I order a 16oz soy latte and my son orders a daily drip. About ten minutes later I inquire; "How's your coffee?" He answers; "Not that great, it's bitter, needs more sweetening." My thoughts exactly! Once again I tried a local favorite and it was a bitter let down. Spending quality time with my Son... that was sweet. Do you love Caribou Coffee? Am I missing something here? Chime in about your coffee jones. Tomorrow morning it's back to the mermaid for me.

I am so with you on the Caribou Coffee. I haven't been to one of their shops but they sell the coffee at Tarzhay. Acidic, not tasty.
The mermaid never disappoints!

one time I asked a girl out and she said no. Thank god I learned my lesson about talking to girls.

Okay, so my comments are a bit delayed, but I'll still chime in. I've been drawn away from the coffee giant lately, sometimes for convenience sake - but I'm also trying to broaden my horizons I suppose. (Not to mention that those who meet with me in these "remote offices" are pretty sick of the same surroundings all the time!) I've found the iced coffee at Caribou to be quite nice, but their latte isn't my favorite. What I have truly grown to love, enough to buy the coffee for home brewing, is Seattle's Best. Here in Ohio it's served in Borders and it hailed my attention for it's depth of flavor. I've been buying their Organic Breakfast Blend for home - honestly it's the only coffee I think I like better than my mega coffee favorite Komodo Dragon. So, there you have it - from one addict to... whoever.
Many smiles!
