According to a new Gallup poll 55 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents surveyed think Obama should offer running mate Hillary Clinton a spot on his ticket. CNN

Why can't they both win? It's only fair since they've both worked so hard. We're a country obsessed with being fair. Maybe Clinton and Obama would be two great tastes that taste great together, just like a Reese's peanut butter cup. A little tired old school politics mixed in with the new.

No true Obamaist would ever approve such a vile idea. Though some Democratic leaders would be shrieking like Dr. Frankenstein if they could successfully sew together such a monster. It's Alive! Stop it... you're scaring the kids. The popular vote confirms it's an Obama-nation.

Eight teens from Florida are facing possible life in prison for the alleged kidnapping and beating of a 16 year old classmate. According to a CNN report, their homemade reality TV episode was video taped with the intention of posting it on YouTube for millions of people to view. Six of the eight teenagers are girls who range in age from 14 to 18 who were seen on video doing the beating while the boys involved acted as lookouts. CNN

When you've lost everything in a fire it would stand to reason that an iPod Nano would not mean a whole lot, but for teens who live by the power of music, an iPod is one accessory that can practically be a life saver. Poway resident Steve Boyack, asked Apple for the donation on behalf of the teens at Rancho Bernardo High. He said Apple officials didn't want any publicity. “It was strictly from the heart and just wanting to help,” Boyack said. Most often it only takes one person to start the chain of giving through compassion when observing the great misfortune of others. I have much respect for Mr. Boyack as he chose to step up for the kids of Poway and for Steve Jobs who helped bring a small bit of hope back to those who've lost so much.

Free Paris, Jail Nicole

Without any advanced warning, people across the U.S. are bursting into tears from the mind numbing boredom caused by over zealous news coverage on Paris Hilton. Inside of one week, she was sent to jail, released from jail, then sent to jail again in tears. CNN, FOX News and others desperately flaunted Paris as front page fodder on Friday. America is anxiously looking for news that's authentically exciting not just another boring episode of "Paris' Simple Life". Right now it's the best we've got since Alec Baldwin stopped calling his daughter via cell phone.

With the media frenzy that Ms. Hilton's jail sentence has generated, someone unscrupulous enough could make quite a payload selling fashionable "Set Paris Free" tee shirts. There is really no end to the themed shirts that can be designed demanding another early release for Paris. This is how I chose to work through my own boredom while randomly weeping.

Shrek Battles Make Believe Obesity

When it comes to make believe diets, I'm putting McDonald's at the top of my list. At the same time that Shrek is being unveiled by McDonald's in their new campaign to promote salads, milk and apple slices as a healthier alternative for kids, Shrek will also be promoting products like M&M's chocolates and Kellogg cereals, such as Froot Loops and Frosted Flakes. It looks like this beloved 3D animated ogre will be on a make believe diet battling obesity, while sending kids a mixed message about healthy eating. Eating healthy and McDonald's in the same sentence is a perplexing oxymoron for parents. Did you know that McDonald's apple slices are served with a low fat caramel dip containing 43 grams of sugar? Hardly a healthy choice for anyone especially those watching their ogre-ish figure. The last time I checked, obesity among animated characters was not considered a national crisis. Though make believe obesity has hit the big green guy pretty hard.

In the summer of 2003 a drunken pirate burst onto the big screen in the form of Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in the highly anticipated release of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." Captain Jack became an instantly beloved character that not only found his way into the hearts of America's youth, but also found Johnny Depp's character portrayal permanently installed into "The Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disney theme parks. Who wouldn't want to be drunken pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow for a day? He's an American icon.
